Who We Are

We are an organization committed to empowering people with disabilities and building inclusive, accessible communities in Hyderabad. With over one billion people—nearly 15% of the world’s population—living with disabilities, the need for awareness, support, and strong advocacy remains critical. Our work recognizes that disabilities arise from diverse causes and that the challenges faced by individuals often depend on social, economic, and environmental factors. We focus on breaking barriers that limit opportunities—such as lack of awareness, social stigma, and gaps in policy implementation. We currently operate in two locations: ECIL Branch – our primary centre offering special education, therapy, and individualized programs. Mehdipatnam Center – run in collaboration with a partner organization, extending our reach and services to more families. At the heart of our mission is a simple belief: every person with a disability deserves equal opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to society. We are dedicated to promoting inclusion, supporting families, and creating environments where children and adults with disabilities can thrive. Together, we’re working toward a Hyderabad where inclusivity is a shared responsibility and a lived reality.
What We Do
At Special Friends, we are dedicated to integrating children with diverse abilities into mainstream school environments. Since 2013, we have offered free care, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring to these children, many of whom come from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Our center has served as a supportive haven for these families, providing essential care and resources. Our focus is on equipping children with the skills they need to become employable and thrive in their communities. Through our programs, we strive to offer not only basic care but also the tools and opportunities that foster growth, independence, and success.
